About Dancehall Music

Dancehall musics name derives from the jamaican dancehalls at which popular jamaican recordings were played by local sound systems. It originated in the 1970s and was to begin with a more sparse take on reggae music. By the 1980s it would later go on to become more characterised with faster rhythms and a shift in the sound of the music which was mostly produced using electronic music instrumentation.
